Mark V. Pauly Mark V. Pauly is the Bendheim Professor Emeritus of Health Care Management and Economics in the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He has taught courses in health economics and health care management for 55 years at Northwestern University and at the Wharton School. As one of the nation’s leading health economists, he has made significant contributions to the fields of health economics and insurance. He is a former member of Medicare’s Physician Payment Review Commission and an elected member of the prestigious National Academy of Medicine. He has been the president of the International Health Economics Association and the American Society of Health Economists, from whom he also received the Victor Fuchs Award for lifetime contribution to health economics. He was a board member of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration and a winner of their Baxter Prize in Health Services Research. He is also the winner of the Lindbeck Award for excellence in teaching and the John Eisenberg Excellence in Mentorship Award from the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality.
