Jeff Helton is a Teaching Professor in the University of Colorado Business School, teaching healthcare finance, health operations, and health economics to Master of Business Administration and Doctor of Health Administration programs. He also holds a secondary appointment at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in the Colorado School of Public Health. With more than 25 years of experience as a health system Chief Financial Officer, he brings “real world” experience to his teaching. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Colorado Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and by providing fractional CFO support to community health centers and rural critical access hospitals through his consulting business, Safety Net Health Finance, LLC. His PhD in Health Care Management was earned at the University of Texas and his MS in Hospital and Health Administration was earned at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is also licensed as an Emergency Medical Technician, holding clinical credentials as a Certified Community Paramedic and Certified Tactical Responder, and volunteers as a Ski Patroller. An avid bass guitar player, Jeff also plays local music clubs.
