Anton Backer is co-founder and CTO of Grouper Education, a classroom management software company. He has worked as a software engineer for 20 years, first on distributed embedded systems and, since 2015, in education technology. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Connecticut and helped develop the interactive website that accompanies this analysis. Outside of work, he mentors college students entering tech, repairs bikes at community bike exchanges, and enjoys cycling, bird photography, and large-scale art.
